INEC’s register contains over 1m dead — Secondus

The National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, yesterday, alleged that INEC has included 1,050,051 dead voters in its register in order to manipulate this year’s general elections for the APC presidential candidate, President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to Secondus who addressed a press conference, yesterday, in Abuja, the permanent voters’ card of dead voters were printed and distributed nationwide.

The PDP chairman appealed to INEC to clean up its voters’ register before the elections. He also called on the National Peace Committee to play key roles towards ensuring a free and credible poll.

“Fellow citizens, government data shows that the gross death rate in Nigeria is 12.5 per 1000 lives. We have evidence that over 1,050,051 dead voters will ‘vote’ in this election.

“The decision that dead voters will cast ballots has been taken by INEC and the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The idea of ghost voters is consistent with the nature of this virtual president,” Secondus claimed.

The PDP helmsman also claimed that there had been coordinated approach to register foreigners as voters, mainly from Niger and Cameroon, adding that was why INEC established many polling units along the border with Cameroon and Niger recently.

He called on INEC to follow the dictates of the law on elections, adding that the commission should not heed to calls to postpone elections in Zamfara State.

“The inability of the APC to field candidates due to self-inflicted crisis when other parties did within the stipulated period for the election is not covered by sections 38 and 39 of the Electoral Act 2010 which the AGF is relying on in his dubious advice,” he said.
