The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Mahmood Yakubu, has said arsonists attacking the commission’s facilities nationwide cannot stop the 2023 elections.

He stated this on Tuesday in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, while briefing newsmen after assessing the INEC office set ablaze by hoodlums in Abeokuta South LGA.

Over 65,000 uncollected Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) were destroyed.

Hoodlums had also attacked INEC offices in Osun and Ebonyi states recently.

The INEC chairman assured that the electoral body would not bow to acts of arson, saying efforts were on to replace the materials lost to the inferno.
