The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says the rerun of the Osun state governorship election which it earlier declared “inconclusive” will now hold on Thursday, September 27, 2018.
INEC’s Chief Returning Officer in Osun State, Joseph Adeola Fuwape, announced this after consultation with political parties’ agents at the INEC office in Osogbo.
Fuwape, who’s also the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), had earlier declared the governorship election in Osun state “inconclusive” after a thin margin between scores for two main contenders.
APC scored 254,345 votes, behind PDP’s 254,698 votes—a margin of 353 votes.
INEC declared voting cancelled in some areas of the state, leaving more than 3,000 votes discounted from the final tally.
As at Sunday afternoon, Social Democratic Party (SDP) came third with 128,049 votes while the Action Democratic Party (ADP) came fourth with 49, 742 votes.
