Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and security agencies say they are well-prepared to conduct the governorship and State Assembly Elections in Yobe State on Saturday.
The resident electoral commissioner, Ahmad Makama, and commissioner of police, Yobe state command, Abdulmaliki Sunmonu, stated this in joined press briefing at the INEC headquarters, Damaturu, on Friday.
“We have monitored the sensitive materials up to the middle of the night, and they reached their respective REC successfully,” he said.
He said that arrangement have been concluded for the movement of all the election materials to ward level very early tomorrow morning so that will commence at exactly 8:00am.
He revealed that the commission had deployed 200 election officers that were carefully selected from the 400 that conducted the presidential election base on competence.
The REC also admitted that little hitches were recorded in the last elections but they were surmounted to face a smooth governorship and state assembly elections.
He said the governorship election would have the participation of 13 political parties, while the State Assembly Election that have a total of 24 members in Yobe has 157 political parties in participation.
On his part, the police commissioner, said the police command in conjunction with other security agencies had deployed 4000 personnel to ensure hitch free elections across the state.
