INEC fixes March 6 for Jigawa assembly by-election

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has fixed Saturday, 6 March 2021, for the conduct of a by-election in Jigawa State.

The INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee (IVEC), Festus Okoye, said this on Thursday in Abuja at the end of a management meeting of the commission.

According to him, the vacancy arose due to the death of Hon. Adamu Baban-Bare, member representing Kafin Hausa State Constituency and the subsequent declaration of vacancy for the Constituency by the Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly.
