INEC denies delay of polls

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos has denied rumours that it intends to delay the goverorship and state assembly elections till tomorrow,Sunday.

It also denied intent to use state school teachers to replace corp members in today’s election with a view to disenfranchising non-indigenes.

A release signed by Ijeoma Okey-Igbokwe, HOD, Voter Education and Publicity,INEC,Lagos,described such rumours as callous,unfounded and malicious.

”The commission hereby warns the peddlers of these rumours to desist from the act that are capable of disrupting the peace of the state”,she said.

Meanwhile  accreditation is ongoing in 7 polling centers visited in Ifako-Ijaye Local Government area of Lagos. There is no issue with card reader in the entire centre visited so far.

Our reporters gathered that people are coming out in mass and there has not been any problem at Ward C unit 003 voters provided pen and paper for pre – registration to ensure orderliness.
