INEC cancels elections at seven units in Kogi

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has cancelled the voting process in seven polling units in the Kogi East Senatorial District of the state following the disruption of voting by thugs in the affected areas.

According to INEC, two polling units were cancelled in Anyigba while five others were annulled in the Omala community of the state.

The electoral umpire stated that the attack by thugs who shot into the air and disrupted the polling units contravened the Electoral Act as such election from the concerned areas stand cancelled.

The attack, INEC said, led to the sudden end of the voting in the said areas.

According to INEC, one of the polling units cancelled was Unit 01, Abejukolo Ward in Omala Local Government Area of the state.
