The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has told political parties to inform the commission the mode of primary it wants to adopt and submit the list of its registered members ahead of the governorship primary elections in Edo and Ondo States.

The Chairman of the commission, Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu, disclosed this yesterday at the first virtual consultative meeting with leaders of the 18 registered political parties.

Prof. Yakubu told the party leaders who had adopted direct primaries to present the register of members to be used for the election from ward to local government and state levels to INEC.

He warned political parties that intended to field candidates for the election to strictly adhere to the dates as well as the new online procedure for filing of nominations.
