Indulgence spoils a rich man’s child

God, it’s time to make money; use my social media expertise to catch millions. Position me to be around a famous pastor or Imam, whose spirituality magnetizes PVC – yes, presidential vote cash.
–    Money is not everything you know.
–    God, ignore this Didymus, don’t let May 29 may come and go without me making money. Don’t make me tell my children that I was playing patriotism while my peers were cashing in. Because giving excuses that I was trying to secure their future wouldn’t cut it.
–    Godliness with contentment is great gain sir.
–    Really? Money answereth all things. Don’t you want to hammer?
–    No. I am not a blacksmith.
–    Presidential money is flowing around, I need to cash in some. Rented students made pounds sterling in London carrying placard without reason. With the Naira making free fall, pounds can change a destiny.
–    Eighty pounds can’t change destiny. By the way, did you hear that the BBC has unmasked Jihadi John?
–    Who is the religious oxymoron? Is he a machine that makes money?
–    No. He is the chief butcher of the Islamic State.
–    Why is he called Jihadi John and not Jihadi al-Baghdadi?
–    I’ve no idea. His real name is Mohammed Emwazi, he is a Kuwaiti-born Briton from a wealthy family.
–    Oti o!
–    He abandoned his parent’s opulent lifestyle for the murderous lifestyle of a nomadic desert murderer.
–    Whoa! The foundations of wealth are laden with filth.
–    You do remember how Christ said the love of money is the root of all evils don’t you?
–    Local pastors prefer the one that describes money as the chariot of evangelisation.
–    The children of the wantonly rich know something about wealth that the poor do not?
–    How?
–    Do you remember Fidel Castro?
–    Oh, my hero.
–    If a man America hates is your hero, the village witches are still after you. But Castro’s parents were bourgeois. He abandoned his bourgeois heritage for life as a revolutionary. His restless colleague in arms, Ernesto Che Guevara was a medical doctor.
–    They rescued Cuba from Fulgencio Batista, a wily and very brutal dictator.
–    Osama bin Laden.
–    In one day, the man changed the world. His seeds of terrorism fruition and is being dispersed with blood across lands and climes – Afghanistan, Pakistan, Syria, Sudan, Lebanon, Somalia…
–    Naija.
–    I was coming to that, bin Laden’s bones have been ingested by sharks.
–    So we’re told, but if you live longer than 50 years until the documents are de-classified you may know better. But he too was from a wealthy family.
–    Yes.
–    Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab.
–    Ah, our own underwear bomber.
–    Yes. His father is a rich banker who sent his son to study in London and embrace the good life.
–    Yes. So what are you driving at?
–    Riches, my friend. It seems that there is something in wealth that rob parents of the duty of raising good children.
–    Huum.
–    Imagine; three rich London girls chose to abandon wealth for life in Syria as Jihadi brides?
–    Shameful.
–    Just check the long line of Naija girls walking Italian streets at night; check the long queues at foreign embassies of prospects wanting to join them, yet those girls threw it all away; sneaked out without their parents even knowing.
–    Abandonment of parental responsibility.
–    Guys, when money making takes the place of parental duty, it’s time for value reorientation. A child well raised won’t queue behind placards in London without knowing why. They’ll say, my parents would be mad at me.
–    It’s true that indulgence spoils a rich man’s child, but these stories are no reason to be ascetic. Some rich people’s kids turn out well while some poor kids turn out worse – Adolph Hitler, Fulgencio Batista, Mobutu Sese Seko, Jean Claude Duvalier, and Mussolini all had humble backgrounds. But have you heard the kids of Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, Dangote, Steve Jobs, Otedola, and Alakija causing trouble?
–    No!
–    Well, if being shoeless had compassion impact, shoeless Jones should not be swinging with people’s lives.
–    It’s not entirely his fault, he confessed that 80% of his advisers are useless.
–    So why is he retaining them?
–    For nuisance value at elections. By the way, I love the King Abdallah copy – military camouflage in recaptured Baga.
–    Yes, ghoulishly marching on the souls of 15,000 including your best soldiers so close to the polls is not dynamism but crash opportunism. Yet if I shout ‘change’ now I may be stoned.
