IEDPU also lamented what it described as the total breakdown of health services at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH).

Its National President, Alhaji Aliyu Otta-Uthman, disclosed this in an address presented at the opening of the 58th national conference of the union held at the forecourt of the emir’s palace in Ilorin.
He said the request for the renaming of the university was in honour of the founder of the Alimi dynasty.
According to him, this is in line with other emirate universities across the country like “Uthman Danfodiyo University Sokoto named after the founder of Sokoto Caliphate and Modibbo Adama University Yola, which was in honour of Adama ibn Ardo Hassana, the founder of Adamawa Emirate.”
