The Police Command in Ogun State on Tuesday night confirmed kidnapping of three Indian nationals in the attack on the Sagamu – Ijebu-Ode expressway.
Daily Trust had reported how gunmen shot a driver and abducted some travellers along the highway.
Our correspondents gathered that the incident occurred around 8pm on Sunday, involving scores of travellers.
The incident occurred near Delabo Junction along the Sagamu/Ijebu-Ode Expressway.

The Chairman of Ilisan Development Council, Wemmy Osude, confirmed the Sunday night’s attack, saying the driver was shot on the knee, while others were marched into the forest by the hoodlums.
The Police Spokesman, Omolola Odutola, while confirming what she called “suspected abduction and armed robbery,” said a group of gunmen with an unregistered Venza Toyota car, had trailed a man in his Toyota RAV4 Jeep , grey colour with license plate number – Lagos – AGL-16-JE, to a rough patch of the road, and blocked the his vehicle.
“The criminals fired four rounds of ammunition believed to be from an AK-47 into the driver’s back tyre and another shot into the front tyre. Immediately, the hoodlums alighted from their vehicle, and forced the driver of the Toyota Rav 4 into their waiting Venza Jeep, and sped off towards Ijebu-Ode.
“During the incident, the hoodlums also shot at a driver of a Toyota Camry car, black colour, whose name is yet unknown, with license plate number – Lagos – AAA-04-JB, inflicting injury on his left leg as he attempted a U-turn,” she said.
The Police publicist added that a bus driver traveling from Abuja to Lagos in the Ilisan area was also stopped by the criminals, as they “smashed his bus windscreen and collected his mobile phone after warning him to be cautious as he was not their target.”
She said the injured driver has been taken to Babcock University Teaching Hospital in Ilisan for treatment and he is currently responding to treatment.
“No lives were lost but the two vehicles damaged by the fleeing suspects have been recovered and towed to the police station.
“Further updates will be communicated to members of the public, as the identity of the kidnapped victim is yet unknown,” she said.
On Tuesday morning, Governor Dapo Abiodun ordered security operatives to go after the kidnappers terrorising Ogun highways.
And later in the night, Police Spokesman gave an update on the incident, saying three indian nationals were abducted in the incident.
She, however, failed to reveal names of the victims.
” Investigations by the Anti Kidnapping Unit of Ogun State Police Command, further reveals that three Indian Nationals were the victims of kidnap incident that occurred at Delabo Junction on the 30th of June 2024,” Odutola posted on her X handle.
