Indian women laud Dangote

Women of the Indian community in Nigeria under the aegis of Indian Women Association in Abuja have said the philanthropic gesture of the Dangote Group seems to have assumed a global dimension with Indian women as beneficiaries also.

At the association’s award and cultural night, President of the association, Mrs. Meeta Saxena, said, “Charity is not about pity, it is about love, and Alhaji Aliko Dangote has continuously helped us in spreading this love.”

Mrs. Saxena said the Dangote Group was the major sponsor of this year’s event in Abuja.

In a statement, she said the association, through the support of the Dangote Group, has been able to affect positively the lives of many vulnerable and poor persons.

The Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Abhay Thakur, said the relationship between Nigeria and India was excellent, and that he was desirous of taking  it to a greater height.

Representative of the Dangote Group and General Manager, Government Relations, Mr. Hashem Ahmed, said the Dangote Group had a medium of giving back to society through the Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF), and stressed that Dangote was passionate about philanthropy.
