Indian community to help promote cricket in Kaduna

The community of Indians residing in Kaduna State on Monday said it will partner with the state government to promote cricket.

President of the community, Rama Venkape, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna that 30 Indians would soon arrive in Kaduna to help in developing the cricket game.

“Cricket is India’s most cherished sport. It is a game that turns strangers into friends and friends into healthy competitors,” Venkape said.

He noted that Kaduna state has good cricket players with a lot of skills but they needed more training and support in the game.

“I saw the way cricket players perform in the state, especially the young ones, and I must commend them all for their skills.

“But we have decided to partner with them by bringing 30 people to come and support and groom them.

“All they need now is more training and support so that they can be playing like their counterparts in advanced countries,” Venkape said.

He said the Indian community wanted to see the Kaduna cricket team inspired and gain more audience.

The community official assured that the partnership would bring enormous attention and value to the team of young players in the world’s richest sports market.
