The Sokoto State Government on Thursday, distributed cows to the less privileged in hospitals and some institutions in the state, ahead of the country`s forthcoming 56th independence anniversary.
The state Commissioner of Home Affairs, Alhaji Isa Achida, stated this while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto.
Achida said that the beneficiaries of the gesture included hospitals, Sokoto Orphanage and Sokoto Central Prison among others.
He further said that a special prayer would be offered on Friday, Sept. 30, at the Sultan Bello Juma’at Mosquen and the palace of the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III.
Achida also stated that similar prayers would be offered in some churches in the state capital on Sunday, Oct. 2, as part of activities to celebrate the country`s 56th independent anniversary.
