Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun has saluted President Muhammadu Buhari-led government’s anti-insurgency battle, saying Nigeria is witnessing the dying embers of the Boko Haram insurgents.
Amosun who spoke at the Independence Day celebration at Moshood Abiola Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta, said the Federal Government had taken bold steps by fighting insurgency, farmers-herdsmen clash, in a bid to ensure safety of Nigerians.
The governor also preached unity, sacrifice and peaceful co-existence among Nigerians for the country to forge ahead as a united nation.
“Apart from dealing with the militancy in Niger/Delta, the Federal Government has successfully decimated the capacity of Boko Haram insurgency in launching attacks in the Northeast, Nigeria.
“What we are currently witnessing is the dying embers of the insurgency. I am convinced that with the support of every Nigerian we will stamp out insurgency from every part of Nigeria,” Amosun said.
