Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has said the Nigeria has a lot to celebrate despite the economic recession facing it, and praised the sacrifice of Nigeria’s founding fathers, insisting that their contributions laid the foundation for the peace, unity and progress of the nation.
Governor Ugwuanyi’s message was contained in a broadcast Saturday to the people of Enugu State to commemorate the nation’s 56th anniversary celebration this year.
Saying that, “notwithstanding the current economic challenges facing us as a nation, we have sufficient cause to celebrate,” Ugwuanyi noted that his administration was committed to delivering on its promises and advancing the frontiers of development in all sectors of the state’s economy.
Governor Ugwuanyi,however, thanked President Muhammadu Buhari, members of the Armed forces and other security agencies for their contributions towards the development and security of the country.
The governor also appreciated the people of the state for the mandate they gave him and the goodwill, solidarity and support they have continued to accord his administration, promising not to disappoint them.
The low-key event which was preceded by a church service and Quarter Guard Parade at the Government House, Enugu was witnessed by the Deputy Governor of the State, Mrs. Cecilia Ezeilo, the Speaker of Enugu State House of Assembly, Edward Ubosi, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 82 Division, Brigadier General Ibrahim Attahiru, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Emmanuel Ojukwu, among others.
