The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has stated that inadequate funding of critical justice and social welfare institutions is compromising the welfare of most citizens, especially the vulnerable ones.
According to a statement yesterday by his Special Assistant on Press Affairs, Udora Orizu, he made the remark at a meeting with a delegation from the United Nations Development Programme and European Union on the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (RoLAC) Programme Phase Two.
He emphasised that adequate funding is essential for institutions responsible for upholding the rule of law and ensuring citizen welfare.
Kalu commended RoLAC’s commitment to ensuring proper funding for such institutions and enhancing access to rights and justice for women, children, and vulnerable persons in Nigeria.
