The state’s most densely populated areas of Dakata, Rimin Kebbe, Tudun Murtala, Kurna, City Centre,  Yanlemo and many other areas have experienced, in the last two weeks, stable power supply, Chronicle has gathered.

Some of the residents linked the improvement in the power supply to closure of most industries and government offices following the outbreak of coronavirus in the country.

They said the power supply has helped in easing their businesses.

Sani Mai Mallam, a tailor who uses electricity to conduct his business, said “whatever is the reason for the power supply improvement, we are happy with it.

Small scale businesses like welding, tailoring and selling of cold drinks, among others, have picked up in the state.

Similarly, most of youths, who were idle, are now getting themselves employed with small businesses.

A source at the Kano Electricity Distribution Company told our reporter that the state was now receiving additional 190 megawatts of energy from the national grid.

However, the source lamented that despite the increase in the power supply to near 24 hours, most residents are refusing to pay their electricity bills.

This, he said, might cripple the company’s revenue generation which would lead to sacking of some of its staff.
