The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has called for the impeachment of Governor Samuel Ortom over his alleged mishandling of the affairs of the 23 local government councils in the state.
At a press conference in Makurdi, the publicity secretary of APC in the state, Daniel Ihomun, alleged that the governor was piloting the affairs of the third tier in the state unconstitutionally, illegally, and unlawfully, especially for his outright instructions to the LG chairmen not to inaugurate the legislative arms in their various councils.

The APC alleged that the governor was aiding corruption, stressing that under his watch, huge sums of money had escaped the state coffers, unaccounted for and that he has been standing against the people’s development by misappropriating monies meant for the growth and development of the various local governments in the state.
In a swift response, the special adviser on media and publicity, Terver Akase, said the APC outing was an attempt to divert attention from the plethora of problems facing the APC in Benue State arising from their ‘yahoo-yahoo’ primary elections whose aftermath is the court cases instituted by aspirants of the party, as well as their deepening crisis over the choice of a deputy governorship candidate.
