The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Maj. Gen. Sule Kazaure, has called on corps members deployed to Imo to remain patriotic and disciplined as they serve their fatherland.
Kazaure made the call in a message to the 2019 Batch A corps members at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Eziama Obaire in Nkwerre Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday.
The DG, who was represented by Mrs Ngozika Chukwuka, Director of Reforms, NYSC directorate headquarters Abuja, reminded the corps members of the need to imbibe core values that would strengthen their patriotism.
He urged them to imbibe the spirit of patriotism, discipline, dedication and overall comportment throughout the duration of the orientation course and afterwards.
Kazaure also advised the corps members to be resilient in pursuit of national interests while commending the NYSC management in Imo and security agencies for their commitments to duty.
“I urge you to imbibe the tenets of discipline and hard work as these will go a long way in strengthening your patriotic spirit.”
“I must not fail to commend the state coordinator and his team including all security agencies present here in camp for being dutiful and dedicated to service,’’ he said.
In his remarks, the state Coordinator, Mr Robert Aroni expressed gratitude for the support the state had so far received from the headquarters, describing it as `unparalleled’.
He said that the DG’s support had enabled the scheme in Imo to procure necessary equipment such as a complete set of wireless microphone amplifier and oxygen tanks for first aid in the ambulance and clinic respectively.
Aroni further commended the corps members for their obedience while encouraging them to remain law abiding all through the service year.
He said: “the scheme in Imo is grateful to you our amiable DG for your fatherly care and support that has seen us better the lot of corps members in the state.”
“Thanks to your support, we have been able to acquire more materials ranging from a complete set of wireless microphone amplifier to oxygen tanks for first aid.
“We have a batch of corps members who are obedient and ready to serve.”
“I urge you to remain law abiding as you give your all in service of our dear country Nigeria and rest assured that the scheme is doing everything to ensure your safety and comfort for the next one year,” he said.
The DG, who was later entertained by the cultural troop and Man’O War, also inspected various parts of the facility including the clinic, pharmacy and the kitchen. (NAN)
