Imo, NCC train teachers on ICT

A total of 110 teachers comprising principals of secondary schools in Imo State have attended a five-day training programme in Information and Communication Technology.

The programme was carried out by the newly created Ministry of Technological Development in conjunction with the Nagerian Communications Commission (NCC) Speaking, the coordinator of the programme,  Mr. Mona Ekweghariri, said that a needs assessment conducted by the state government revealed that nearly 80 per cent of teachers haven’t got basic knowledge in the use of computers, adding the training was meant to develop administration and  human capital.

He said that the principals would in turn pass on the knowledge they acquired to their subordinates, adding that the 110 trainees were the first batch in the programme.

Under the programme tagged, Digital Appreciation Programme (DAP), the trainees, according to Ekweghariri, learnt basic IT skills, in computer application, word processing, e-learning and other programmes that would help them to teach children in line with the best practices in education.
