Imo guber: Nwosu formally defects to Action Alliance, expresses confidence of victory

Former Chief of Staff to Imo State Governor, Uche Nwosu, on Tuesday formally defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Action Alliance (AA) to pursue his ambition to govern the state in 2019.

He said despite the injustice meted out to him by the party and its leadership led by Adams Oshiomhole, he was confident that he would emerge the next governor of Imo state on the platform of the new party.

Speaking with newsmen at the Sam Mbakwe International Airport shortly on arrival from Abuja, Nwosu said that he was forced out of APC because of injustice, impunity and lack of respect for the party’s constitution.

Waving the flag of the new party as he alighted from the aircraft and was welcomed by hundreds of enthusiastic supporters, with officials of the party beside him, Nwosu said the entire APC structure, except those supporting the senatorial ambition of governor Rochas Okorocha, have been dissolved into  AA.

He described AA as a party with the ideal democratic manifesto, stressing that his ambition to succeed Okorocha was driven by the massive support he enjoys from the over 70 percent population of the electorates in Imo state.

He said that AA will cooperate with APC to deliver votes to President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election as president and Governor Rochas Okorocha as the senator to represent Imo West.

“We are going to work with APC to deliver President Muhammadu Buhari in Imo state. We will deliver Governor Rochas Okorocha as senator because AA has no senatorial candidate in Orlu zone.

“I have no problem with President Muhammadu Buhari. My headache is the national chairman of APC. He stole my mandate and administered injustice to many of us in Imo state,” Nwosu said.

The chairman of Imo youths council, Jeff Nwoha, who also spoke with newsmen said that over 70 percent of youths in the state had defected to AA to ensure that Nwosu emerged the next governor of the state.

Nwoha said the youths would reject any ploy to rig the 2019 governorship election in the state.
