Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Imo State, Declan Emelumba, has said that gunmen burnt his country home in the early hours of Sunday at Ubulu Ihejiofor in Oru East Local Government Area.
The commissioner said that the gunmen succeeded in setting on fire the two houses in his compound.

A village source confirmed the incident and said that panic had engulfed the once peaceful community.
The source said: “it was a terrific night. Nobody slept last night. People are just coming out from the bushes. The shooting was so much and people had to take cover in the bushes.”
Our source confirmed that soldiers were already being moved into the community to restore normalcy.
Our correspondent recalled that, a few days ago, gunmen attacked a neighbouring community, Ibiasoegbe and killed three persons including a policeman in the attack.
The commissioner told our correspondent that his country home was completely burnt down.
Emelumba said: “Yes, it is true. My house in the village has been burnt down. It was completely razed. We don’t stay in the village. My gateman managed to escape.”
Emelumba is one of the members of Uzodinma’s kitchen cabinet and one of the eight commissioners retained in the recent sack of some members of the state executive council.
The incident came less than 24 hours after the governor sacked all his special assistants, senior special assistants and special advisers.
It also happened at the time the headquarters of the state police command was attacked by hoodlums.
