Imo bars non holders of junior school certificate from sitting for SSCE

Imo State Government has barred students not holding the Junior Secondary School Certificate from sitting for the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination, SSCE.
Commissioner for Education,  Bernard Ikegwuoha, who disclosed this in a statement, said that any student that had registered for the 2021 WAEC/NECO/NABTEB Examinations and does not have or possess verifiable evidence of BECE certificate, will not be allowed to sit for the 2021 WAEC/NECO/NABTEB.
He asked such students to take advantage of the ongoing registration for the junior school certificate examination and rectify any anomaly they may have with the junior certificate.
The statement read: “This is to inform you that any student without BECE (Junior WAEC/SSCE) Certificate, will no longer be allowed to sit for the Senior WAEC/NECO/NABTEB Examinations.
“If any student has already registered for the 2021 WAEC/NECO/NABTEB Examinations and does not have or possess verifiable evidence of BECE certificate,  will not be allowed to sit for the 2021 WAEC/NECO/NABTEB.
“You’re further informed that registration exercise for the 2021 BECE examination is ongoing while you should be mindful that all fees are paid into the Treasury Single Account (TSA).
“For the avoidance of all reasonable doubts, any teacher or principal who tells or informs his or her student that Junior WAEC (BECE) examination and certificates are irrelevant, will be penalised,” the statement added.
