Members of the Imo State House of Assembly have demanded immediate announcement of new date to hold new ward and local government congresses.
The 24 lawmakers who were led to the APC headquarters in Abuja by the speaker, Acho Ihim, said no congresses were held in Imo State.
The legislators, who still expressed their loyalty to Governor Rochas Okorocha, implored the Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led National Working Committee (NWC) to take drastic steps to tackle the crisis rocking the party in their state.
Daily Trust reports that the APC faction in the state led by the deputy governor and some senators had succeeded in having their people as delegates at the ward level, the outcome of which was rejected by Okorocha.
But apparently in support of Okorocha, the speaker said there was no congress in Imo. “We are here to reconfirm the fact that there was no election held in all the 305 wards in Imo State.
We have affirmed our stand with our governor, we are still standing with our governor,” he said.
On the controversial endorsement of Okorocha’s son-in-law, Ihim, who said the governor could have his preferences, added that Uche Nwosu was qualified to rule Imo.
