The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) have been awarded N500 million each by the Abdul Samad Rabiu Initiative for Africa (ASR Africa) Security Sector Support Grant.
The spokesman of NIS, DCI Tony Akuneme, in a statement Friday, said the award was in recognition of the many successes recorded by the NIS.
The Comptroller General of Immigration, Isah Jere Idris, while receiving the award letter, commended the Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, for the initiative and for recognising the strides of the service.
Similarly, in a statement, Awa Franca of the NCoS, said while presenting the cheque to the Controller General of Corrections, Haliru Nababa, that the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Initiative, Dr Ubong Udo, noted that the organisation was set up as a vehicle to drive the chairman’s mission for Nigeria and Africa and to create a platform where Nigerians and Africans could take responsibility to solve their own developmental problems by looking inwards.
