The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has handed over 11 victims of human trafficking to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) in Sokoto State.
NIS’ spokesman, Mr Tony Akuneme, in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja, said the victims were repatriated by the Niger Republic Police and handed over to the NIS at the Illela Border Command.
He disclosed that the Controller of Illela Border Command, Ado Rano-Sabo, revealed this on Friday, March 10, while handing over the victims to the Zonal Com-mandant of NAPTIP in Sokoto.
He explained that, “The 11 victims who are all women were apprehended in Niger Republic on their way to Libya.

“The young women are from different parts of the country and of ages ranging from 19 to 37.” (NAN)
