I’m still struggling to achieve my dad’s standards – Babalakin

Dr Wale Babalakin, the eldest son of late Supreme Court Judge, Justice Bolarinwa Babalakin, has said he is still struggling to achieve his father’s standards as a great disciplinarian.

Speaking at the final Fidau prayer for the late judge, Babalakin expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari, former president Olusegun Obasanjo, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and other top Nigerians who identified with the family over the death of his father.

“I had the rare privilege of being born and raised by a man who was an outstanding intellect with undoubted high integrity; a very humane distinguished Nigerian who functioned pleasantly in every part of Nigeria.

“Dad was an exceptional man of faith, a remarkable legal practitioner and a trusted judge,” he said.

The Fidau prayer, held on Sunday at the four thousand seater Bola Babalakin Hall at Gbongan, was attended by governors of Oyo, Bayelsa, Ogun and Ekiti states, Seyi Makinde, Douye Diri, Dapo Abiodun and Kayode Fayemi.

The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Professor Ishaq Oloyede and the Pro-Chancellor, Osun State University, Malam Yusuf Ali (SAN), were the co-anchors of the Fidau prayer while the National Missioner of Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Shaykh Abdurahman Olanrewaju, delivered the sermon.

Shaykh Olanrewaju said death was imperative and that every living person should prepare for it by engaging in good deeds so as to end well and meet their creator well.

The Orangun of Oke-Ila, Oba Adedokun Abolarin, the Emir of Lafia, Sidi Bage Muhammad and the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Abdulrosheed Olabomi, were among the traditional rulers that attended the prayer.
