Nigerian-American former professional soccer player and coach, Micheal Nsien has indicated his preparedness to coach the Super Eagles and make the team a force to be reckoned with in the world.
The United States U-19 coach is among several others who have applied for the vacant Super Eagles plum job.
It will be recalled the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is preparing to appoint a coach to replace Jose Peseiro as Head Coach of the Super Eagles before the resumption of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Speaking with our correspondent, Nsien said he is competent to bring the best out of the players if given the job.

“We have the talents but it has been underperforming. When I look at the players and where they come from, they come to the national team with a standard and we need to meet their expectations when they come back. They should play at a higher level for the national team no matter where they play for. I want to help build the standard from the ground floor.
“I am competent to bring the players and make them believe in the project and make them competitive to face any opponent. I am a Nigerian and I have the coaching competence and license of any foreign coach they may want to bring in. I have the full confidence in my ability and translate that to my players and get the best out of them,” he said.
Nsien further said the current players were not used effectively during the 2023 Nations Cup as the Super Eagles are known for playing attacking football by playing more from the wings and as such, he will execute a process that will maximize the potential for all players.
