I’m not Okupe’s replacement, LP Deputy Campaign Manager Warns

The Deputy Campaign Manager of the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign, Isaac Balami, has denied insinuations touting him as the replacement of the Campaign’s Director General.

His statement comes shortly after the former DG of the campaign, Doyin Okupe, resigned due to his conviction bordering on money laundering offences by an Abuja High court.

Balami in a statement by his media aide, Olusegun Dosunmu on Tuesday, described the insinuations as fallacious and very disturbing news and a deliberate falsehood against his person and office.

The statement read, “This allegation, a false representation of my personality is not only spurious but malicious. It is a futile effort to pitch me and my office against my superiors and my fellow hardworking campaign council members, whom I have always had the utmost regard and love for.

Okupe steps down as Peter Obi’s Campaign DG

‘They can’t demoralise me’, Peter Obi speaks on Okupe’s conviction

“The news is a piece from mischief makers who think they can derail our great Labour Party and also diminish the influence of the next President of Nigeria, His Excellency, Mr Peter Obi by attacking the unity of purpose of his campaign team working hard to make Nigeria great again.”

The Deputy Campaign Manager added that he was not interested in the position adding that the rumour was peddled by those who intend to cause friction among members of the party.

“I must therefore and hereby unequivocally reiterate that I am not interested in the office of the Director-General of the Obi/Datti Presidential campaign.

“Anyone sponsoring this selfishly motivated and deliberate campaign of calumny aimed at causing disaffection amongst our presidential campaign council has failed and has hereby been warned,” the statement added.
