Asiya-Balaraba Ganduje, one of the daughters of Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has approached a Sharia Court in Kano to seek the dissolution of her 16-year-old marriage to her husband, Inuwa Uba.
City & Crime gathered from court sources that the matter was heard by the judge, Khadi Abdullahi Halliru, in his chamber with the judge hinging the decision on the personalities involved and the sensitivities of the case.
It was further gathered that Asiya-Balaraba sought the dissolution of her union with her businessman husband on the basis of her being “fed up” with the marriage.
Sources said she prayed the court to apply the Islamic principles of khul’i to dissolve the marriage even as her husband insisted that he does not want the union to end as he still loves his wife and sought the court’s indulgence for more time to explore ways of getting his wife to change her mind.
