Ilorin Emirate Council has cautioned the Kwara State government against acceding to the request for the elevation of the traditional chiefs of Jebba and Shao in Moro Local Government Area of the state.
The council in a statement issued yesterday by the Magaji Nda of Ilorin, Alhaji Salihu Mohammed Woru, reminded government of the fact that all traditional chiefs in the five LGAs of Ilorin West, Ilorin East, Ilorin South, Asa and Moro that made up Ilorin Emirate are lesser chiefs under the Emir of Ilorin.
“Unless the Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution is amended, all 774 local governments including Moro local government shall continue to remain where they are despite their political, religious and tribal differences.
“I therefore, appeal to the agitators from Moro and their cohorts, particularly students, to focus more on their educational pursuits being potential leaders of tomorrow,” he said.
