I’ll implement Jonathan’s confab report – Jang

A former governor of Plateau State, Sen. Jonah Jang, has said he would use the 2014 confab report articulated under President Goodluck Jonathan to restructure Nigeria if elected president in the 2019 general elections.

Sen. Jang, who returned his expression of interest and nomination forms to the national leadership of the PDP in Abuja, also said his government would guarantee state police.

The ex-governor who flayed the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government for not ending the Boko Haram insurgency in the North East and the spate of killings in other parts of the country, said Nigeria needed to be rescued.

He said his administration would study the 2014 confab report, rejig the grey areas and forward it to the National Assembly for approval.

“They told us at some point that the Boko Haram had been defeated but we still hear about killings by the Boko Haram in the North East. The crisis has continued unabated; so any government that cannot guarantee the security of lives and property is not qualified to remain in power,” he said.

“Our nation requires total restructuring because there is imbalance in the system. So there is need for proper power sharing. I will therefore give priority to restructuring. It will come through constitutional amendment,” he said.
