The Governor-elect of Imo state, Emeka Ihedioha, has said that his priority is to change the bad news about the state.
Ihedioha disclosed this on Thursday in Owerri while inaugurating his transition committee.
He said he would tap from the experiences of many intellectuals, professionals and business moguls from the state to change its fortunes.
He noted that this would entail wide consultation with all segments of the society, stressing that he had selected members of the committee from among the brightest and the best of citizens of the state from different fields of human endeavour.
Ihedioha said, “In the course of the campaign, we promised good governance while stimulating development in all sectors and across all the zones of our dear state.
“Having recognised that we cannot deliver on that promise without leveraging on the experience and expertise of the broadest possible diversity of Imo people, we are here today to inaugurate the transition committee that will help us with a clear road map to achieve the goals we have set for ourselves.
“In constituting this transition committee, we were very careful and deliberate. I know every single person in this room, if not personally, at least by reputation and I feel delighted that you decided to answer our call. It is even more humbling to note that every individual we invited for this defining state assignment responded delightfully in the affirmative.”
The transition committee is expected to turn in their report in four weeks while the harmonisation committee will take two, making a total of six weeks to complete the assignments, our reporter gathered.
