He said though Jigawa governor is of the contenders, he believed that they could work together since they were working towards the same objective.

Lawan maintained that while the present administration had done so much in respect of economic policies and provision of security to the citizenry, he admitted that a lot still needed to be done.

He said the government had provided so much resources for security sector but not much had been achieved, adding that “we have not been able to get the desired results, but that is not to say that we are not doing anything.”

He said that his about 23 years as a parliamentarian had provided him with deeper insight into the real issues concerning governance in the country.

He said, “Therefore, I intend to build on the policies of the present administration since governance is about making people live fruitful and productive lives.”

Governor Badaru Abubakar, who was represented by his deputy, Umar Namadi, said he and Lawan had the same objective, saying they were the sons of the same father.

Therefore, he said, both Badaru and Lawan would find a common platform to resolve their matter as far as the contest was concerned
