The Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has commissioned a gully erosion reclamation work and the 2.5km asphalted road and culvert at Umuogele Umuakwu Nsulu in Isialangwa North Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
Gov. Ikpeazu who arrived the community with his entourage after navigating through narrow graded roads leading to the community, directed the state Ministry of Works to immediately identify a new road that would directly connect the community to Ururuka Road and revert to him.
He said, “We give God the glory that we have arrested the rampaging gully erosion and delivered 2.5km new road infrastructure to our people. But having seen the challenge faced by Umuakwu people to connect to Ururuka Road, it is only right that we ensure that the state Ministry of Works connects the new road to existing road network around the area.”
Ikpeazu charged the people of the area to see the work as an opportunity to produce more agricultural products to support his administration’s drive of improving agricultural productivity.
Speaking to newsmen after the second day of projects inspection and commissioning tour by the governor, the Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, said the tour would continue throughout the remaining months of the year.
