The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), a global research organisation based in Ibadan, Oyo State has enlisted 45 farmers in Kogi state as cassava seed entrepreneurs (CSEs) to address the seed gap in the state.
IITA, through its Building an Economically Sustainable Integrated Cassava Seed System, Phase 2 (BASICS-II) is working with other agencies to strengthen cassava production in Logo and other states across the country.
The Communication Officer of IITA, Mr Godwin Atser, on Friday, said the plan was to help Kogi State boost its seed demand for cassava production, create a new stream of business opportunities and improve the livelihoods of farmers.
