IGP presents N45m cheques to families of deceased personnel

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has presented cheques totaling N45,887,000 to 43 beneficiaries of the police welfare scheme.

Egbetokun, represented by the Commissioner of Police in Benue State, CP Steve Yabanet, said the money was given to families of deceased police officers to cushion the effects of the death on them in the first one year.

He sympathised with the beneficiaries and advised them to invest the monies into businesses that will help them to become self-reliant as they wait for other benefits from the force.

The beneficiaries, in their various responses, expressed their appreciation to the IGP for remembering them within a very short time.

They explained that it had not been this easy in the past as they prayed God to bless the IGP so that he will continue to fight for the rights of police officers.
