IGP orders manhunt for Isanlu police station, bank robbers

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed  Adamu, has ordered a manhunt for the armed robbers who attacked Isanlu Police Station and a commercial bank in Yagba East LGA of Kogi State on Thursday.

Police spokesman, DCP Frank Mba, said in a statement in Abuja yesterday that while condemning the incidents, the IGP had deployed detectives from the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), the Special Tactical Squad (STS) and Federal-SARS to Kogi State to ensure that the criminals are apprehended and brought to book.

He said the IGP also directed the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Zone-8 Police Headquarters, Lokoja, AIG Yunana Babas, to immediately assess and review the security arrangement in Kogi State and environs in order to prevent a re-occurrence.

Gunmen on Thursday reportedly attacked a First Bank branch in Isanlu town in Yagba East local government area of Kogi State leaving unconfirmed number of persons dead.

The attackers also reportedly hit the Divisional Police headquarters in the town, killing yet-to-be-ascertained number of officers and men.
