The spokesman of Kano command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who confirmed the redeployment to Daily Trust said it affected many commands, not just Kano.

He said details of the redeployment would soon be released.

Daily Trust reports that the redeployment of Kano CP, Mamman Dauda to Plateau is coming just few days after the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) alleged that the CP has been in cahoots with the state government to frustrate the party in the election period.

The party had appealed to the IGP to redeploy the CP out of the state.

But the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) had said they had also raised similar issues that the CP was not going tough on “criminal elements” among NNPP supporters, a development the police spokesman said indicated that the command under CP Dauda was apolitical.

Kano recorded a high wave of violence in the 2019 governorship election. The police have warned troublemakers to stay off the 2023 General Elections and have beefed up security nationwide.
