IGP commissions security vehicles in Imo

The operational capability of the men of the Imo State police command was boosted on Friday with the commissioning of 60 new vehicles by Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Baba Alkali.

The vehicles were donated by the Imo State Government.

Alkali, who spoke during the commissioning of the vehicles and opening of the office of ‘Operation Search and Flush’ in the state, charged his officers and men to desist from taking unnecessary risks in the course of their duties.

He said the police authority under his leadership would continue to champion the welfare of policemen, and admonished the cops to stop getting involved in unprofessional acts.

Alkali said he was happy with the level of assistance the state governor, Hope Uzodinma, had given the police in the state to do their work.

The IGP commiserated with the families of cops who lost their lives and admitted that policing was full of hazards.

Governor Uzodinma thereafter presented N5 million cheques to the families of the 21 policemen who lost their lives in the recent past in the state
