Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Usman Baba Alkali, on Tuesday commissioned a police station and a eight-bedroom flats for police officers in Shimawa, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Represented by Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 2, Mr. Bode Adeyinka Adeleke, the IGP said the public should see the new built police station as their project and should be taken care of accordingly.
Speaking earlier, Group Managing Director of Adron Homes and Properties Limited, Aare Adetola Emmanuelking, said residents of Simawa town have been the major beneficiaries of many development projects from Adron Homes because the town is the birthplace of the company.
He moved further to say that Adron Homes company had invested much in the building of a police stations for the people of Simawa as he felt that insecurity would scare away foreign and local investors and the business of the residents would not strive.
He said, “With the advent of miscreants, who boldly embark on criminal activities without regard to life and property, we must take quick, decisive; proactive and intentional measures to protect our homes front, our communities and our towns.”
“His Excellency, Dapo Abiodun, has taken proactive measures to ensure the decline of insecurity in Ogun State and we need to support him in achieving that.”
He went further to say that the residents of Shimawa should be security conscious and be friendly to the police.
“I urge all the residents to desist from committing crime, and you should know that police would not compromise with ungodly and uncivil activities,” he said.
The National President of Police Community Relations Committee, (PCRC), Farouk Maiyama, said the police station is unique among other police stations in the country, adding that the police officers who are to work in the station will enjoy the conducive environment and the looks of the station will portray good image of Nigeria to the international community.
The representative of the state governor, Dapo Abiodun, who is also the Executive Secretary of the Ogun State Security Trust Fund, Adeola Sonsanwo, said the governor has been trying to bring good things to the state.
He moved further to say that the governor had included the roads in Shimawa among roads to be constructed soon.
He added that the construction of the police station in Shimawa has shown that the state government wants better living for the people of Ogun State.
The Commissioner of Police Ogun State, Lanre Bankole, said the Nigeria police is to create an enabling environment for Nigerians by ensuring the safety of life and property, adding that people of Shimawa can now sleep with their eyes closed.
