IGP asks FCID to investigate Ogun footballer’s death

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID) to take over investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death of late footballer, Tiamiyu Kazeem.

The Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), DCP Frank Mba, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.

Mba said the IGP had ordered the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) in charge of FCID to take over the investigation.

He said the IGP gave the order on Monday while reviewing daily reports of major crime incidents across the country.

​According to him, while commiserating with the family and friends of the deceased, the IGP has called for calm.

He said justice would prevail in the matter adding that any person found culpable would be brought to book.

Kazeem, Remo Stars FC defender, was on Feb. 22 murdered in Sagamu, Ogun state. (NAN)
