Igoche hails D’Tigress despite 76-90 loss to China

The factional president of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), Igoche Mark, has hailed the fighting spirit displayed by D’Tigress despite the 76-90 loss to China in the opening match of the FIBA Women’s World Cup qualifiers in Belgrade, Serbia.

The reigning African Champions put up a strong resistance but bowed to the superior power of the 7th ranked team in the world.

In his reaction, Mark commended the team for their courage and resilience during the tension soaked game and charged the ladies to take positives from the loss.

He also described the defeat as a stepping stone for a better outing in today’s match against European heavyweights France.

“I must commend you for showing courage and giving your all against China. I urge you to take the positives from the match as you prepare to go into your next match against France. “All I can tell you is that if you are never on the losing side, you are never truly tested and you may never be forced to grow. Pick up yourselves, go conquer France,” said Mark.

A total of 16 countries are presently in Serbia slugging it out in the qualifiers, to qualify for the FIBA World Cup scheduled to hold from September 22 to October 1, 2022, in Australia.
