If you fail to join politics, your ancestors will rule over you, APC youth wing tells young Nigerians

The Youth Wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) has charged young persons in the country to join politics.

They gave the charge at a conversation on ‘Renewed Hope for Nigeria’ held in Lagos, on Sunday.

National Youth Spokesperson, Tinubu-Shettima Campaign Council, Aliyu Audu, insisted the APC-led government had contributed “to increasing the participation and inclusion of youth in politics and governance, especially with the enactment of the ‘Not Too Young To Run’ law which has made it a reality for young people to contest and win elections in order to contribute to national leadership at various levels.”

“We need to come out and participate in politics because power is never served ala carte. If we don’t participate, we will see our ancestors making decisions for us,” said Nuhu Hassan, a chieftain of the APC.

Audu who delivered the key note address said Nigeria can attain its collective aspiration if the youth participated fully in politics and governance of the country.

He said, “As young people, when we combine our divergent strengths and individual talents, it is certain that great stuff can happen in this country. We only need to bury all forms of inherited pains or animosity, either on behalf of our religion, region, or ethnic lineage. We must now resolve amongst ourselves and come to terms with the fact that mistakes were made, and errors committed, from all sides and seek to end every grievance holding us down as a nation in our own generation.”

A member of the APC PCC, Barr. Zaynab Mariam, who spoke on youth and politics beyond social media said while politics is regarded as a dirty game, only the youth can clean it through participation.

Other speakers included Ayo Oyalowo, Moremi Ojudu, Nuhu Hassan, Dr. Obatokunbo Otitoju, Dr. Gloria Onyinye, Kemi Asekun, Segun Tomori, among others who argued that Tinubu is the reformer Nigeria needed to advance.
