Retiring Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris is set to handover to the newly appointed acting Inspector General of Police, AIG Mohammed Adamu.
Speaking to State House reporters, after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari together with Adamu, Idris said he would today handover.
“I have reached the pinnacle of my career. Today I’m going to handover to my successor, “he said.
He advised Adamu to understand and go around the country, saying foundation has been laid for the conduct of credible elections.
Also speaking, Adamu thanked President Buhari for considering him worthy as the next IGP.
“We know that there are challenges that we need to tackle. We will strategise to tackle it,” he said.
He pledged to work for free, fair and credible elections, saying, “We are professionals, we are going to stick by the rules. We will not go outside our rules. ”
A statement by Police spokesman DCP Jimoh Moshood also confirmed the handinng over.
