The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has lived up to its promise of providing voting opportunities for those displaced by bandits and insurgents in Niger State.

Daily Trust on Sunday correspondent reported that Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Shiroro and Munya local government areas of the state took advantage of the opportunity and participated in the exercise amidst tight security.

One of the IDPs in Shiroro Local Government Area, Jibrin Farouk, told Daily Trust on Sunday that those who were camped in Gwada Central Primary School and Zumba were moved to Galadima-Kogo and Erena where they cast their votes.

About three hours after the voting had commenced, dozens of eligible voters in Minna, Niger State, who were automatically relocated by INEC to the newly created polling units said they could not locate their new polling units.

One of the voters, Rifkatu Joseph, said her normal voting unit was Uphill Voting Unit but she did not find her name in this election and she didn’t receive a text from INEC about where to cast her vote.
