The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), on Wednesday, formally created its gun-wielding section basically for enforcement.
The development followed the approval given to the anti-graft agency by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) to bear arms for the effective performance of the operatives.
No fewer than 109 pioneer armed operatives of the agency were commissioned on Wednesday at a ceremony that was held at the Aguiyi Ironsi Cantonment, Asokoro Abuja.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of ICPC, Musa Aliyu, described the operatives’ commissioning into the armed squad as a significant milestone for the Commission.

Aliyu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, who was represented by the Commission’s Director of Operations, Shehu Yahaya, said the gun-wielding personnel had undergone training for one month.
