ICPC arrests directors over job ‘racketeering’

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has arrested some directors of federal agencies over alleged sales of job slots, Daily Trust reports.

Sources at the ICPC told  Daily Trust that the operatives, carrying out discreet operations on various agencies, visited the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) on Wednesday where at least 3 top officials of the agencies were arrested.

The culprits were said to have been taken into custody for proper and further interrogation.

 “Many of the civil servants confessed to our detectives that they paid huge amounts of money ranging from N700, 000 and N2m to some top public servants before securing the jobs,” a source said.

He said if the arrested directors were found guilty, they would be charged to court.

ICPC spokespersons, Azuka Ogugua, neither answered phone calls nor replied a text message sent him by Daily Trust.

Federal Government had, in June, ordered suspension of 1,500 workers with fake appointment letters.
