The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offenses Commission (ICPC) has arraigned the Chairman of Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State before a high court for allegedly misappropriating the revenue generated by his local government.
The Chairman, Ibrahim Muhammad Abdullahi (Shehi), who appeared before the court pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge against him which bordered around his alleged allocation of 20% of the generated revenue to the collection team as against the approved three to four percent.
The ICPC alleged that the defendant, in March 2018, conferred an unfair advantage of N689,000 as 20% commission to the collection team.
In June 2018, he was said to have committed the same offence to the tune of N733,000 which was allegedly released to one Sani S. Ibrahim and N338,560 was said to have also been released in the same month to one Abdullahi Adamu.
In April of the same year, the ICPC alleged that the chairman paid N399,000 to one Abdullahi Adamu being 20% of the generated revenue as against the approved percentage.
The acts were said to be against section 19 of the ICPC Act of 2000.
The presiding judge, Justice Jamilu Shehu Sulaiman, said due to the fact that the accused is an incumbent chairman of local government, he has been granted bail on bond of N500, 000.
The case was adjourned to January 17th, 2021 for hearing.
